Lena Headey And Jared Harris Join Mortal Instruments Movie

Lane Pryce may have had a rough time of it during the most recent season of Mad Men (to put it mildly), but things appear to be going Jared Harris' way these days. Earlier today, the actor's name was listed among the 2012 Emmy nominees, and now comes word that he's joining the cast of the upcoming feature adaptation of The Mortal Instruments. Also joining the cast are Godfrey Gao and Game of Thrones' Lena Headey.
Based on a series of young adult novels by Cassandra Clare, The Mortal Instruments follows Clary Fray, a teen who learns she's the descendent of people who hunt demons. Lily Collins is set to play the lead role in the film, which is being directed by Harald Zwart. I. Marlene King (Pretty Little Liars) is credited for penning the screenplay, along with Jessica Postigo.
According to Variety, Headey is set to play Clary's mother Jocelyn Fray, while Harris will place Hodge Starkweather, the tutor to Jamie Campbell Bower's character Jace. Meanwhile, Godfrey Gao has been cast to play Warlock Magnus Bane.
Headey's made a name for herself in various projects on the big and small screen. She played the part of Queen Gorgo in 300 and the title role in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Fox. Most recently, she's demonstrated her darker side in the role of Cersei Lannister on HBO's Game of Thrones. As for Jared Harris, in addition to his now Emmy-nominated role as Lane in AMC's Mad Men, he's also appeared in Fringe and The Riches.
Per CassandraClare.com, the film is scheduled to go into production next month with a scheduled release date of August 23, 2013.
