McG is in the mood to make some magic. After doing a couple of action movies - Terminator Salvation and This Means War - the filmmaker is now turning to Los Angeles' most exclusive clubs as inspiration for his next movie.

As reported at the end of last month, the famous Magic Castle made a deal with Radar Pictures producer Ted Field to create a movie about the venue, and today The Hollywood Reporter says that the director they want for the job is none other than McG. While there makes no mention if the actual plot of the movie, the trade reports that 20th Century Fox is now behind the film and they liken it to other buildings that have been used as inspiration for movies, including the failed Eddie Murphy comedy The Haunted Mansion (based on the Disney ride) and the two Night at the Museum features with Ben Stiller (which set at the Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian Institution, respectively). Script duties have been handed to Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, the two men who are currently working on the Sabrina The Teenage Witch movie reboot.

While McG is now committed to the Magic Castle movie, it won't be his next project. Instead, that will be Three Days To Kill, a thriller co-written by Luc Besson about a dying, retiring secret service agent, played by Kevin Costner, who is given a risky chance at a longer life. That film is expected to wrap in February, and once he is done with that he will turn his attention towards the magic gig.
