Michel Gondry Will Direct The Green Hornet

It looks like those wild rumors of The Green Hornet’s impending demise were just that, wild rumors. According to Production Weekly the film is moving forward, and they’ve found a replacement for Stephen Chow as director.

Sitting down in Chow's vacated director's chair is Michel Gondry. Gondry has never exactly done a superhero film or an action film, but he’s got a thing for visual flair. His best known work is probably Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, though maybe a few of you saw Be Kind Rewind or caught Science of Sleep on cable where it seems to play endlessly.

So The Green Hornet finally has a director, but does it have a Kato? Seth Rogen wrote the script and it’s safe to assume that he’s still on board to play the Green Hornet, but Stephen Chow’s stance on the film has been confusing to say the least. When he first dropped out as director word was that he’d be sticking around to play Kato, but since then he’s talked like he wants nothing to do with it. If Gondry is in charge, expect to see the Kato situation sorted out soon.
