While the rest of us were out getting wasted and buying edible underwear, the guys over at IESB were interviewing the producers of the new The Birds remake. You may remember that a few months ago we brought you the story here that Naomi Watts had been offered the lead in the film. Well the film’s producers have confirmed the story, they are talking to her to take on the role originally made famous by Tippi Hedron.
Ok, that’s not really news unless you consider reiterating old news to be news. What is news is that they say they’ll have some sort of announcement in the next two weeks about the project, including who they’ve hired to write it. Or, who they’ve hired to sell their soul to the devil and piss all over a classic piece of Hitchcock.
Hey, I’m not even a fan of The Birds. I love Hitch but there are a lot of his other films I love better. But it’s Hitch. It’s The Birds. The two just go together. Leave it alone.
If you’re not leaving it alone, I guess get Naomi Watts. After The Ring and Kong, she’s America’s new scream queen. She fits.
