Natalie Portman And Mila Kunis Top IMDB's STARmeter List For 2011

IMDB posted their list of Top Stars of 2011 and, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis came out on top. The Black Swan stars managed to take the top two positions on the list, unseating Johnny Depp from the #1 spot, which he held for six of the last seven years.

Tis the season to look back at the best and most note-worthy names and moments of 2011 and is no exception there. The site has posted its Year in Review page, which features numerous looks back at the year in entertainment. Among the lists is the “STARmeter Top 10 of 2011”. They keep it simple in determining which actors come out on top for this list. Rather than basing it on some kind of voting system, the list is comprised of the actors whose pages at IMDB have received the most views. These are the people who are most viewed on IMDB’s website.

Natalie Portman, who won an Academy Award this year for Black Swan, took the top spot on the list, with her Black Swan co-star Mila Kunis taking the second spot...

1. Natalie Portman2. Mila Kunis3. Johnny Depp4. Emma Stone5. Chris Hemsworth6. Olivia Wilde7. Jennifer Lawrence8. George Clooney9. Ryan Gosling10. Christian Bale

Neither Portman nor Kunis made the Top 10 last year, but they were in the top thirty, checking in at #20 and #22 respectively. Meanwhile, Twilight Saga stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson held #2 and #3 last year, and this year, they’ve dropped to #12 and #26 respectively. IMDB points out in their announcement that this is the first time since 2007 that the two failed to make it into the Top 10. Is that an indication that the Twilight buzz is finally beginning to wear off?

This may or may not be relevant to the results, but right now, if you Google Natalie Portman, the top hit is her IMDB page, however if you Google Kristen Stewart, in addition to a pile of news stories currently trending for the actor, the first official Google hit is her website, after which is the IMDB page. Whether that makes a big enough difference to affect her standings on the list, who knows? The first Google hit for Robert Pattinson (after his pile of news stories) is IMDB, so maybe the Google-factor doesn’t apply, at least not enough to make a huge amount of difference.

You can compare the 2010 and 2011 lists here.

New to Top 100 this year are Jennifer Lawrence, Tom Hardy, Emily Browning, Michael Fassbender, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Henry Cavill, Dianna Agron, Alex Pettyfer, Jason Momoa, and Saoirse Ronan.
