Meet Riley, the "star" of Pixar’s next feature Inside Out who will be placing all of her conflicting emotions on display for the sake of our entertainment next June.
Pixar Animation Studios tease an early look at Riley as part of the Disney Movies Anywhere app. The service promised subscribers access to exclusive footage, and a sneak peek inside Inside Out appears to be the latest video. We were tipped off to the clip’s existence by The Pixar Times, who said that the image above is the completed design of the main female in Pete Docter’s Inside Out.
The plot synopsis for the film says that 11-year-old Riley will be going through various emotions because of an unexpected life change:
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters."
ScreenCrush managed to grab some GIFs of the emotions in action, as illustrated by director Pete Docter (Up). In this first one, we see Joy throwing marshmallows at Anger. Because if you were the accurate representation of pure joy, what else would you be doing but throwing gooey, puffy and delicious marshmallows at spoil sports?
As a follow up, all of the emotions can be seen roasting marshmallows over the flames that are coming off of Anger’s head. How can he stay mad?
The footage from Inside Out isn’t yet available, as they likely wanted to keep it exclusive for the Disney Movies Anywhere app subscribers. Which is great, but we’re publically lobbying Pixar to make it available online soon. We still have almost a year before Pixar’s Inside Out makes it to theaters on June 19, 2015, so it’s probable the animation isn’t fully ready. But we hope there can be a trailer available, and soon!
