Rachel Weisz Stars For Peter Jackson

Passing up the third Mummy turns out to have been a pretty good movie for Rachel Weisz. Aside from the fact that word on the script isn’t very good, it’s freed her up to take a job working for one of Hollywood’s premiere directors. Variety says Weisz will star in Peter Jackson’s next movie, The Lovely Bones.

Lovely Bones is a supernatural drama based on a book by Alice Sebold. In it a 14-year-old girl is raped and killed. Her spirit is unhappy with this, and hangs around to keep watch over her family and her killer. Rachel Weisz will play the young girl’s mother.

The movie is supposed to start production this October. That’s good news if you’re a Jackson fan, since it means that a year from now we’ll all be sitting in a theater somewhere geeking out over PJ’s latest offering. Since there’s no gigantic CGI monkey to put together in post-production for this one, hopefully that’ll mean a shorter time to theaters than on Jackson’s other, more recent movies.
