With a bevy of fairy tales and myths getting action-packed movie makeovers, why not a new take on Santa? This seems to be the thought behind DreamWorks new animated adventure Rise of The Guardians. Inspired by The Guardians of Childhood book series, the film showcases such iconic childhood figures as the Sandman, Jack Frost, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus as you've never seen them before. Far beyond the magical figures that leave us treats throughout the year, these characters are shown in the intriguing trailer below, as super-powered titans who guard us from forces of evil.

You can watch the trailer embedded below, or in high-res at Apple.

There's some serious talent behind Rise of the Guardians. Guillermo del Toro executive produced the script penned by heralded playwright David Lindsay-Abaire and William Joyce, who not only wrote the original books, but also created the whimsical Oscar-winning animated short The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. Then, helping breathe a dazzling vibrancy into the imaginative character designs of DreamWorks animation team is a cast that includes such charismatic talents as Chris Pine (Jack Frost), Alec Baldwin (Santa, or North as he's called in the movie), Hugh Jackman (The Easter Bunny, a.k.a. Bunnymund), Isla Fisher (Tooth, the Tooth Fairy), and Jude Law (the villainous Pitch). And all this charm, whimsy, and work is apparent in feature's impressive and compelling first trailer. From Baldwin's enchanting voiceover to the captivating character design and awe-inspiring action shots, this trailer has plenty to relish. Like North's seatbelt-free sleigh, it looks like Rise of The Guardians will be a wonderfully wild and fun ride.

Rise of The Guardians opens November 21st.
