Rob Schneider Protects His Daughter's Wild Cherry

It’s been a while since Rob Schneider headlined a movie’s cast, but not long enough for most people’s tastes. I don’t think anyone has recovered from the one-two punch of The Animal, The Hot Chick. Still, the comedic actor keeps getting work, and not only from his friend Adam Sandler. Variety reports that Schneider is part of the ensemble independent comedy Wild Cherry.

The movie will feature Schneider as the father of a girl (Tania Raymonde) who decides to give up her virginity to her jock boyfriend. She then learns that he doesn’t love her and just wanted to add her name to the football team’s “bang book,” leading the girl and her friends to seek out a literary form of revenge based on the Greek play Lysistrata.

Although Variety is giving Schneider the attention in their story, that seems to be because he’s the big name of a cast that includes a Lost bit-player (Raymonde) as the only other known name. The story sounds like it’s a lot more about the girl and her high school friends and not her father, thankfully.

For those who think I’m being too rough on Schneider, don’t worry. My harsh opinion of the comedian doesn’t really matter, evidenced by his constant work schedule, including Don’t Mess With the Zohan, coming out later this year.
