Set pics on Richard Linklater's latest adaptation of Philip K Dick's novel A Scanner Darkly are on Philip K Dick's website. It's a sci-fi story based in an alternate future about America losing the war on drugs. An undercover cop named Fred played by Keanu Reeves is hooked on the latest drug called Substance D which causes split personalities to the user. Fred sets up a complex plan to stop a drug dealer named Bob who is also Keanu Reeves, big surprise! The story sounds vaguely like Fight Club with Edward Norton leading a double life as Brad Pitt. I wish!
A Scanner Darkly also stars Winona Ryder, Robert Downey Jr. Woody Harrelson and Rory Cochrane. Interestingly enough, the film has some big time producers like Steven Soderbergh who directed Oceans 11 and Traffic and George Clooney.
