Scott To Be Step Brother

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s partnership in last year’s Talladaga Nights can really only be described as ridiculous. Ferrell has certainly proved his comedic outrageousness on numerous occasions, but most viewers were surprised by Reilly’s easy going, hilarious demeanor. Cal Naughton Jr. was quite a departure from his normal character acting, but those who have seen Boogie Nights know the part was basically just a slightly more caricatured version of Reed Rothchild. Apparently, this recent turn towards the lighter fare has caught Reilly’s eye, and he’s going to continue making you laugh with the upcoming Walk Hard and a rekindling of his partnership with Will Ferrell.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mary Steenburgen (Philadelphia) and Adam Scott (Knocked Up) will join Ferrell and Reilly in the previously announced comedy Step Brothers. Scott will reportedly play the younger, more successful brother of Ferrell, while Steenburgen will play his mother. The basic story follows the Talladaga Nights partners who unexpectedly find out their parents have married. Much to the chagrin and surprise of everyone, the new family members immediately hit it off and continue to bask in their immaturity.

Principal shooting is set to begin next month. If everything goes correctly, it’s possible that this could be out next summer or late next year. You can never write off either Reilly or Ferrell’s improvisational ability; so, I’d expect nothing but comic hilarity.
