A-Team Movie In 2009

John Singleton’s plan has come together, and that means for the next year or so I’ll get to work variations of “I love it when a plan comes together” into every story I do on the impending release of his movie version of The A-Team. You’re gonna love it.

Variety says the movie now has a release date. 20th Century Fox is targeting June 12, 2009 for the A-Team’s plan to come together (look I did it again!). Even though it’s more than a year away, they aren’t the only movie scheduled for release that weekend. They’ll be up against the fantasy comedy Nowhereland. It’s an Eddie Murphy movie directed by Karey Kirkpatrick. I think they can take him down.

The fact that they’re giving this a summer release date though is somewhat significant. It means that Fox knows The A-Team comes with plenty of explosions, and so regardless of whether it’s bad or good audiences will show up to see it in droves, particularly if it’s hot outside and they’ve just eaten red meat. Now all the movie needs is a cast to go with the violent pyrotechnics. I love it when a good explosion comes together.
