Tony Scott is the most recent director to fall prey to Hollywood’s comic book adaptation frenzy. Earlier this month we learned that he’s adapting a Mark Millar comic called Nemesis, about a Bruce Wayne type who decides to turn into a super villain instead of a super hero. Now we have a line on who Scott’s looking at to play the movie’s lead.
Except, well, the way Millar explains it seems suspect. Says Millar, “Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott… I just got a call from him, literally about a month ago… it was one of those very surreal things. This is a $150 million budget… he said “Who do you fancy for it?”… I said “I dunno, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp” so he said “That’s good, we’ll give them a call.”
So basically these are just the people on Mark Millar’s wish list and Millar isn’t even making the movie Tony Scott is and let’s face it, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp are on pretty much everyone’s wish list. And it’s not like he even put much thought into casting them he just threw out a couple of names. I’d put the odds of Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt actually showing up in this movie at somewhere around zero. Besides, Millar hasn’t even finished the comic this movie is supposed to be based on yet. They’ve only released a couple of issues. It’s still very new. I’m not even really convinced this movie will ever happen. Don't be surprised if this is the last you hear of it.
