When talking about my favorite character actors, J.K. Simmons ranks right alongside Steve Buscemi and John Turturro (yes, I do really like Coen brothers movies, why do you ask?) The problem with character actors, however, is that as great as they may be in their respective roles, be it as J. Jonah Jameson in the Spider-Man movies or the dad in I Love You, Man, they never seem to get the focus they deserve. As a result, whenever they do land that elusive leading role I become very interested, and that's the case with The Music Never Stopped.
Having just played at this year's Sundance Film Festival, Apple has posted the first trailer for the film, which stars Simmons, Lou Taylor Pucci, Cara Seymour, and Julia Ormond. Based on the book The Last Hippie by Oliver Sacks, the story is about a father who attempts to help his son, who suffers from long-term memory loss, reclaim the life he has lost by using music.

I really can't help but be charmed by this one. Simmons and Taylor Pucci appear to have some great chemistry going on. I have long had a theory that it's hard to make a bad movie where great music is at the center of the plot and with bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and The Grateful Dead on the soundtrack, I can't imagine this disappointing. The Music Never Stopped hits theaters on March 18.
