Trailer Trash: Vantage Point, American Gangster, Hot Rod

When trailers fall in between Cinema Blend’s couch cushions, they eventually get vacuumed up and deposited here in Trailer Trash. Today's bag of Trailer Trash contains three future viewing possibilities. Once Ridley Scott movie, a Dennis Quaid thriller, and an SNL alum tries to make it in movies.

Vantage Point - first trailer

In Vantage Point, the attempted assassination of the president is told from five different perspectives. The cast is fantastic with Matthew Fox, William Hurt, Dennis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver, Forest Whitaker and the trailer makes this look much cooler than you’d expect from the premise. It’s a tangled mess of mysteries, danger, and double-crosses. Vantage Point won’t be here till 2008, but it already looks really cool.

American Gangster - first trailer

Ridley Scott pairs Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington together in his crime movie American Gangster. Denzel plays a quiet driver who rises to rule the inner-city drug trade while moonlighting as a respectable civic leader. Crowe is an outcast cop with the pulse of the streets hot on the trail of Washington’s drug lord character. The trailer makes it look like Ridley Scott’s take on The Departed.

Hot Rod - second trailer

I love Andy Sandberg on SNL, but his first attempt at making it in movies looks, well, stupid. In Hot Rod he plays an inept wannabe stuntman who must jump 15 busses in order to raise enough money to save his step-father’s life… so he can kick his ass. The second trailer for the movie is here, and it’s full of fake mustaches and outrageous crashes. If there’s any fun to be had in the film, it’ll be in watching how many ways Andy Sandberg can be hurt.
