There's no telling yet which movies will turn out to be the best of the Tribeca Film Festival, or even what the frontunners for the prizes are-- it's only the first day! But there is , unqeuestionably, already a #1 badass of the festival, and no, it's not Larry David's character from the new Woody Allen movie.
The guy you're looking for is Black Dynamite, the titular star of the movie that turns all the conventions of 70s blaxsploitation movies on their heads. Funny, action-packed and really, really silly, Black Dynamite starts screening at the festival this Friday (get tickets and info here), but you can check out a clip from the movie below. Black Dynamite (Michael Jai White) is practicing his karate moves in his own personal dojo, but all it takes is one phone call to mess up his concentration.
