The Purge 4 Is Finally Casting, Here's Who Has Signed On

Y’lan Noel and Lex Scott Davis The Purge The Island

The Purge franchise has been crazy busy behind the scenes, what with developing a television series in addition to continuing the big screen sequels - but today brings us some rather big Purge 4 news. It seems that the project has started making big calls when it comes to casting, and now reports say that Y'lan Noel and Lex Scott Davis are the first to actors to sign on to the horror feature - which is moving through development with the title The Purge: The Island.

This casting news comes to us from the folks at the Tracking Board, though unfortunately there is no information currently available regarding what roles they will be playing within the film The Purge: The Island, which is based on a script by franchise creator James DeMonaco, but is being made by director Gerard McMurray (Burning Sands), is a prequel that will expose the origins of the vicious social experiment. The titular island in the movie is Staten Island, and it will be the home of the first Purge following the rise of the New Founding Fathers of America (a.k.a. the NFFA). While we can't be 100 percent certain, we can probably guess that Y'lan Noel and Lex Scott Davis will be playing two individuals who get caught on the island at the (extremely) wrong time.

Should these new reports prove to be true, The Purge: The Island will wind up being only the second movie that Y'lan Noel has been in (the first being a 2013 indie called House of Another). Rather, the young actor has gotten most of his exposure on television. In 2013 he was credited with six episodes of the series The Hustle, and he currently lays Daniel King on the HBO comedy Insecure opposite Issa Rae.

Likewise, being in The Purge 4 would be a solid career stepping stone for Lex Scott Davis - provided that the role is significant enough. The actress first got attention playing Toni Braxton in the TV movie Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, but she also had an eight episode run on the short-lived Training Day series. The Purge: Island will actually be the first film she has ever done - again provided that the Tracking Board's information is correct.

Similar to how The Purge: Election Year was released about two years after The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge: The Island will come out on July 4, 2018 - about two years after Election Year hit theaters. This surely means that the start of production is imminent, which means that fans should be on the lookout for more casting news coming soon. While these aren't movies that really build up huge ensembles, let's not forget the awesomeness provided in the first three movies by Ethan Hawke and Frank Grillo.
