Woody Allen's usual m.o. is to keep the details of his films under wraps until the last possible minute, waiting to give his films a title until he's seen the final product and not even telling us about the plot until he can help it. But apparently an old dog, so to speak, really can learn new tricks. Not only has Allen announced the title of the film he's shooting in France this summer, Midnight in Paris, but he's actually revealed the plot. Amazing!
Let me just give you the plot as described in the press release:
MIDNIGHT IN PARIS stars Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates and Carla Bruni. Also in the cast are Michael Sheen, Nina Arianda, Tom Hiddleston, Corey Stoll, Mimi Kennedy and Kurt Fuller. The film shoots this summer in Paris.
Presumably Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams, who are among the high-profile top-billed cast, will be played the young engaged couple, with Kathy Bates as a likely candidate for another family member. Marion Cotillard and France's First Lady Carla Bruni make up the French cast, and it's not hard to picture them in roles equivalent to Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz in Vicky Cristina Barcelona-- glamorous foreigners who demonstrate the potential elegance of life on other shores.
