Keith Richards Just Threw Serious Shade At Mick Jagger

The Rolling Stones have hit a bit of a rough patch. According to recent reports, the legendary rock band can't get no satisfaction between its two most prominent members: Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. In a recent profile, Richards has issued some pointed barbs at his fellow musician for fathering his eighth child at 73. It is only one of several jabs shared between the long-time rockers over the course of their periodically-contentious relationship. Of course, if you're rockin' 'n' rollin' for as long as the Stones have, there are bound to be arguments -- though that doesn't make it sting less.

The quote came from The Wall Street Journal, in a profile article they published about Keith Richards yesterday. The musician is obviously pretty miffed about Mick Jagger's personal life. Although once the quote went viral over the past 24 hours, Richards hit Twitter to usher a rare apology for the remark.

Thankfully, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are recoiling over these recent troubles. Like an old married couple, you imagine comments like these are rolled around pretty regularly. They might bruise from time-to-time, but the band is still together, right? Jagger and Richards have publicly sparred since 1985, when Jagger released his first solo album and refused to go on tour for their latest album, Dirty Work. The next few years were not without their difficulties, but the Stones put aside their differences and learned to work together again.

In 2010, however, tensions brewed again when Keith Richards issued slights in Mick Jagger's direction in his autobiography Life, saying that Jagger became "unbearable" to be around in the early '80s. The guitar player talked about how the rest of the band would lodge nicknames like Her Majesty, Brenda, and Madam at Jagger. Richards also went on to talk about Jagger's "swollen head" and "inflated ego" in his memoirs and said the two band members don't hang out anymore. They haven't hung out in any capacity in close to twenty years, in fact. Richards asked the following in the pages.

That said, Keith Richards later admitted in the interview above that he and Mick Jagger are used to sparing in this fashion. It's what keeps them active.

While it's sad to know that the Rolling Stones aren't as close-knit as they once were, that's par the course. It's only rock 'n' roll, after all. The rock band has been together since 1962, and they have surprisingly shown few signs of slowing down. So it might not be paradise behind the scenes, but they're making it work. And that should be comforting enough for fans. At least, until the next insults come knockin'. Then it's time to find some shelter.
