Longtime reality show judge Simon Cowell might finally be ready to settle down. After working his way through numerous relationships with high profile women and always managing to avoid long-term commitment, the X Factor headman has found himself very much in the deep end. He’s reportedly been spending a lot of time with Lauren Silverman lately, and now, the New York socialite is reportedly pregnant with his child.
According to US Magazine, the thirty-six-year-old is about ten weeks into the pregnancy. Neither she nor the fifty-three-year-old Cowell have released any kind of statement confirming the news or commenting on their reaction to it, but that’s probably because the details of the entire thing are about as gossipy as it gets.
You see, Silverman is actually the wife, yes wife, of Simon’s good buddy Andrew Silverman, a New York City real estate mogul. Andrew and Lauren have reportedly been having serious marital problems for quite awhile. As divorce lawyers were procured and the depressing details of the split were being worked out, she reportedly started hanging out with Simon quite a bit, and obviously, the relationship got sexual in a hurry. It’s probably safe to assume this baby wasn’t planned for, but that doesn’t necessarily mean part of Simon isn’t euphoric, even given all the messy details.
The curmudgeonly Brit might talk a good game about wanting to live the single life, but in recent years, his tone has softened quite a bit. In fact, he’s been very clear that maybe, possibly a child wouldn’t be the worst addition to his life. Here’s what he told AOL Music last year…
”I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them. The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids. I've always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I've probably missed the opportunity."
Given the complete lack of comments from either Cowell or Silverman and his distaste for making his private life public, it will likely be a long time before we learn any details concerning possible names and/ or the baby’s sex. The judge/ executive producer has been very open in the past about his preference for a girl, which shouldn’t surprise anyone considering how much he seems to bond with female contestants, but given his age and the surprise nature of the pregnancy, something tells me he’ll be happy with whatever he’s given.
Pop Blend’s sincerest congratulations go out to Cowell and Silverman. This definitely wouldn’t have been how the two would have drawn it up on paper, but that doesn’t mean this impending baby can’t be loved and appreciated, whether Simon and Lauren give it a real go together or not.
