Made - Season 4

Premieres: Saturday, April 12, at 10:00 a.m. EST

Network: MTV

Creator(s): Bob Kusbit

Starring: Various teens on the quest to self improvement

Website: MTV.com

Made is an MTV reality series that follows teens as they set out to improve themselves by picking up a totally new hobby or craft. Whether it’s aspiring to become a professional wrestler, a singer, cheerleader, or something else, the teens are mentored and the show follows their progress. Each episode focuses on one subject as they learn their new craft and work to perfect it.

The new series will kick off with a mini-Made-marathon. At 10:00 a.m., Made: Rock Star will air. In that episode, a straight-A student will try to become a rock star. At 11:00 a.m., a drama club kid will attempt to become a baseball player in Made: Baseball Player. Then at 12:00 p.m., the two-hour Made: Ballerina/Made: Tap Dancer episode will air, featuring two kids from the same school as they try to become dancers.

I’m pretty sure I’m not the target audience for a TV series like this and while I normally don’t let that get in the way of my enjoyment of a show, when it comes to MTV reality shows, I’m just not all that interested in them. This is not to say that Made isn’t a decent show. I’m sure I would’ve loved it when I was a teenager (back in the days when I lived and breathed MTV). And given some of the ridiculous series that air on MTV these days (Shot At Love, That’s Amore), Made is probably one of the higher quality shows currently on the air. Plus it is premiering on a Saturday morning/afternoon and that’s pretty much the perfect time to flip to MTV and stare blankly at the TV for a couple of hours. Plus, if the show manages to inspire kids to go after something they might normally think is too difficult, well then that’s a good thing.
