This comedy centers on the residents of an apartment building called El Capitan (a.k.a. “The Captain”). When Josh (Fran Kranz) can’t seem to get his fimmaking career back on track, his friend Marty (Chris Klein) convinces him not to return to New York and instead, move into The Captain.

Among the other residents in the building is Uncle Saul (Jeffrey Tambor). Saul was a writer for Three’s Company and now spends the better part of his days claiming to be an expert on pretty much everything. Then there’s the flirty Charlene (Raquel Welch), Astrid (Valeri Azlynn), a wannabe actress and Jesus (Al Madrigal), the doorman who pays attention to everyone’s business.

Maybe I just don’t watch CBS that much but I knew virtually nothing about this show up until this weekend. The premise of the show seems fairly sitcommy (a show about a bunch of people who live in the same building) but that’s to be expected, as it is a sitcom. All the same, if it weren’t for the cast (Jeffrey Tambor! Yay!) and the fact that the show looks like it has the potential to be a bit quirky, I’d probably pass on this one. I think checking out the pilot might be worth missing 30 minutes of American Gladiators.
