Anthony Wins Shear Genius

Well, the dust has cleared and Anthony has emerged as the ‘Shear Genius’ winner, topping fiery redhead Daisy and Cinema Blend sentimental favorite Ben. It was a bitterly tough last challenge, in which all three stylists were asked to tell a story using a trio of different models by selecting their clothing and rapidly changing their hair. Small mishaps seemed to define the ultimate test, as Daisy spilled her dye, Ben struggled on a mediocre up-do, and Anthony’s coloring choices were called into question by host, Rene Fris. Ultimately, Daisy got the chop first, leaving the two boys. Anthony was then announced the winner and everyone celebrated with champagne and hugs. Isn’t that just special?

I have to admit; by the end of the season, I really loved ‘Shear Genius.’ The competition was fresh and exciting. The stylists were catty but still likeable, and a lot of the models were gorgeous…well, maybe not gorgeous. Some of them were at least pretty hot. Luckily, for all you salon fanatics out there, the reality competition scored well, assumedly paving the way for another season. Damnit. The anticipation is already deafening.

It’ll probably be a long time before we see ‘Shear Genius 2’ since Bravo usually structures ‘Top Chef’, ‘Top Design’, and ‘Shear Genius’ to all be on at different points in the year. For example, after ‘Top Chef 3’ concludes, the premiere of ‘Top Design 2’ will probably take place the following Wednesday. Or they could totally change programming executives and it could premiere tomorrow. Who the hell knows? The only thing I’m really sure of is how much I loved this damn show. At some point, season 2 will arrive so expect more backstabbing bitchiness, rock star haircuts, and of course, a whole new crop of badass mane tamers. Now, go shake it!
