Character Actor Noah Emmerich Takes On Role In The Americans

Noah Emmerich has never really been one to turn down a guest starring role on a TV series, but, until recently, he was more of a movie guy, appearing in such flicks as The Truman Show and Super 8. That all changed around 2010, when Emmerich took his first multi-episode TV story arch on USA’ s White Collar. Now, TV castings with more substance seem to be rolling in.

Emmerich will be joining the cast of FX’s pilot The Americans a 1980s Cold War spy drama that has its casting well underway. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys have already been cast to play two married spies in the series whose union is just a sham, but whose feelings for one another may not be. Problems may arise for the couple when the new neighbor moves in next door.

If you haven’t already guessed, Emmerich is set to play the neighbor in the Washington, DC set period piece. According to Deadline, the Warrior actor won’t be playing your average Joe, however. Emmerich will play an FBI agent who specializes in counter intelligence and quickly begins to perceive something fishy is going on with Russell and Rhys’ characters. Hopefully, The Americans will get a series order and audiences can really get a look at Emmerich in a meaty TV role. I have pretty high hopes. FX’s pilot certainly sounds better than the two major period pilots – The Playboy Club and Pan Am - we were privy to this past fall.
