Genie Francis Returns To General Hospital; Dave Replaces Laura In Catatonic State

Because I am not allowed to report on the bitch-fest going down at ‘The View’ as it more or less accounts to gossip I have to report on a story that made my mom unbelievably happy. The iconic Luke and Laura of ‘General Hospital’ were so popular back in the 80’s that 30 million people tuned in for their wedding. 30 million people were sitting at home at the same time during a weekday watching two fictional characters tie the knot. I’m sure that if the younger me had net access at the time, the first letters I would have typed on a local BBS would have been, “WTF”. This isn’t news you can use; this is us at TV Blend circling the drain.

According to my mom, Laura has been in a psychiatric hospital for the past four years. According to IMDB, Genie Francis spent 2004 in a film nobody saw called Thunderbirds. As an aside, I once met Wortham Krimmer at DragonCon. He played Emperor Cartagia on the 4th season of ‘Babylon 5’. I went up to him and said, “Didn’t you used to play Father Andrew on ‘One Life to Live’?” He gave me the look of the long-suffering-just-barely-above-day-player-status and said “I still do.” Then he solicited me for an autograph. I politely declined, as it would have cut into my over-priced concession budget. For a second I thought Genie Francis had once crossed into my sphere of viewing, but then I remembered I was actually thinking of Melissa Gilbert, who also was in the 4th season of ‘Babylon 5’ (albeit for one episode). Oh yeah! Now I remember! Genie Francis is married to Jonathan Frakes. There’s the geek connection.

So, anyone else see Superman Returns today and thought they were seeing a Richard Donner movie as imagined by Bryan Singer?
