Hannibal Series Premiere Clips Introduce Us To Will Graham And Hannibal Lecter

Hannibal premieres tonight! Bryan Fuller's new series airs on NBC and will focus on the start of the relationship of FBI criminal profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and renowned forensic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). As the clip above emphasizes, Will Graham has an unusually perceptive intuition when it comes to piecing together gruesome murder scenes to figure out how the crime went down.

In the case of the above clip, we see Graham come to the realization that the female victim being examined was mounted on deer antlers, and then that the killer had intended to eat her, but there was something wrong with "the meat." Yuck! But, if we know anything about the source material, this kind of gory scenario is probably going to be a regular item on the menu. And the clip does a great job of demonstrating the way this new drama visualizes the gory details from Graham's perspective.

The subject of Graham's heightened sense of empathy is discussed in this other clip from the premiere, which shows us Dr. Lecter, doing what he does left - or one of the things he does best. He's psychoanalyzing Graham right to his face.

I suppose it's more polite to analyze him to his face than behind his back, and we do know Lecter's a fan of manners. All the same, it seems Graham's unhappy with the doctor applying his expertise to him. In fact, he gets pretty angry and huffs off to go do a lecture… on psychoanalyzing.

Hannibal premieres tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC. Read our review of the premiere here.
