NBC Joins Forces With Youtube.com

NBC’s catching up with the times, it seems. Earlier this year the network slapped youtube.com with a cease-and-desist warning when unauthorized SNL clips were being uploaded and shared by Youtube users. They’re apparently over that whole fiasco because they’ve decided to team up with the popular video sharing website in the hopes of promoting their fall line-up.

The network’s ratings have been dismal lately so it’s likely that they’re hoping to capture new viewers by sharing promotional clips of shows like ‘The Office’ on youtube.com. NBC plans to create its own channel on the website, separate from the general area of home-made music videos and bizarre home movies uploaded and shared by bored teens and wannabe film makers.

Now that NBC’s gotten caught up with marketing ploys, perhaps they’re spend some time focusing on making shows worth watching. Until then, maybe they could just run reruns of ‘The Office’ and ‘My Name Is Earl’ all day.
