NBC Renews Law & Order and Criminal Intent

It looks like ‘Law & Order’ will be sticking around for another season. The crime drama, which has been around for nearly two decades was rumored to be on NBC’s chopping block this year but the network recently announced that they’ll be bringing the show back for it’s 18th season this fall. Meanwhile, the spin-off series, ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent,’ which was also rumored to be dangerously close to cancellation will return for another season but will be moved to another network.

USA Today reported that while the original ‘Law & Order’ will remain on NBC’s network next season (most likely in a new timeslot), ‘Criminal Intent’ will be moved to the USA network. NBC will air reruns of ‘Criminal Intent’ after they are on USA. The report from USA Today also mentioned that though both shows will receive “significant budget cuts,’ there will be no major cast changes in either show.
