Ringer's Kris Polaha On Last Night's Episode And What's Ahead For Henry

I really don’t know what to make of The CW’s Ringer. On one hand, it’s fluffy and overly dramatic. And on the other hand, I haven’t been able to bring myself to stop watching. Last night’s episode offered a big twist at the end as we’re left to wonder what’s become of a certain character. Spoilers ahead! Read no further if you don’t want to know anything about what’s coming on Ringer or if you haven’t seen this week’s episode yet!

TV Line spoke with Kris Polaha, who plays Henry on the series. When we last saw Henry last night, he was politely trying to keep Andrew from entering his apartment, which we soon saw was a mess, as though there had been a struggle, and there was blood all over the wall. This scene followed earlier scenes involving Gemma scheming to prove Henry was a cheater so she could leave him without him getting any of her money. Henry was not happy when he learned about that.

Did Henry and Gemma have words that turned into a bigger fight? Or did something else happen? The last time we saw Gemma, she was begging Andrew to come over because she had to tell him something. Presumably it was to reveal Bridget’s secret, but who knows if that was really her intention? Granted, we’re only a few episodes in, but she wouldn’t be the first character to fake her own death. Or perhaps there are other people involved? Obviously, this incident is setting the story up for something big, but what?

Here’s what Polaha told TV Line about next week’s episode and some vague but interesting hints about this story arc.

Next week’s episode is called “The Poor Kids Do It Everyday,” and it starts with Henry cleaning up this crime scene — you’re definitely left thinking that this man just killed his wife. It’s going to be a cat and mouse game for awhile; you’ll be thinking that Henry did it and then maybe that Bridget as Siobhan (Sarah Michelle Gellar) did it — and you’re not going to get answers right away. They’re going to keep raising the stakes. In fact, Gemma’s disappearance is the beginning of a four-episode storyline for Henry. It’s a catalyst for a pretty major arc.

Polaha points out that we never actually see Gemma’s body, which means we really don’t know if she’s dead or alive. So while there aren’t any answers just yet, we will find out what happened and whether Henry was the one who did it. At this point, I have to believe he had something to do with it, or why not call the police? Sure, they were having problems but would he cover up someone else’s murder? Maybe I’m thinking too rationally for a show like this, where bodies are stashed in trunks that are left on display at a party.

Polaha does say something that leads me to believe Henry isn’t the one who hurt Gemma or caused her disappearance:

Next week, Briget as Siobhan and Henry get into it. All of a sudden, he realizes that she may have had a hand in [Gemma's disappearance], and then the police get involved and it becomes this full-fledged investigation.”

So... if Henry thinks Bridget had a hand in Gemma disappearing, does that mean he didn’t? Or was the mess in the apartment and the blood his doing but then Gemma took off and he doesn’t know where?
