Second Chef Eliminated On The Next Iron Chef

We may not know who the next Iron Chef will be, but one thing is certain: It’s not going to be a woman. Last night on The Next Iron Chef, Jill Davie (Executive Chef, Josie, Los Angles, CA) was the second chef to be eliminated. Davie’s elimination follows the week 1 elimination of Traci Des Jardins, the only other woman in the competition.

Last night episode had the contestants creating a dish that showcases their culinary style in just one bite as well as creating a meal using powders, compounds and high-tech tools that were unfamiliar to the chefs. Ultimately, Davie’s disappointing dish wasn’t enough to keep her in the competition. Frankly, I’m not sad to see her go, as she’s one of those people who speaks as though everything is a question (“The orange for me? Was very astringent?). Ugh.

The six remaining chefs are battling for celebrity chef Mario Batali’s role on Iron Chef America. The winner will begin his reign as Iron Chef in a special Thanksgiving-themed episode of Iron Chef America airing on Sunday, November 18, 2007.

The Next Iron Chef airs Sunday nights on The Food Network. Episode recaps and exit interviews can be seen on The Food Network’s website.
