With months to go until the third season of The Walking Dead arrives, it's fortunate that AMC seems to be generous enough to offer us a few small morsels of content every now and then to keep our appetites satisfied during the hiatus. Today, that comes in the form of a behind-the-scenes look at the visual effects for the series.
The video below mostly focuses on the visual effects for the second season finale, so those averse to spoilers can rest assured that there's virtually nothing major referenced or shown from Season 3 in this video. However, if you're not caught up on Season 2, consider yourself mildly spoiler-warned.
Here's Visual FX Supervisor Victor Scalise talking about some of the visual effects done for the Season 2 finale.
"We did a lot of killing last season," Scalise reveals toward the end of the video. "And this season, we're doing a lot more."
Vague and not all that surprising, but still exciting!
It seems like with The Walking Dead, there's a balance between more practical special effects involving make-up and actual scenery and what's generated by computer. It works well for the show. Most of the stuff Scalise pointed out as far as moments that were enhanced with visual effects, I wouldn't have been able to point out as being computer enhanced/generated.
