EA's co-op series Army of Two might be getting another sequel. Stargate: Atlantis actor Joe Flanigan may have accidentally outed the game, dubbed Army of Four, over Twitter this weekend.

"Just signed on to do the new AO4 video game for Electronic Arts. Some splinter from Battlefield. Finally, my kids think I am cool again," tweeted Flanigan (via Joystiq). He then corrected himself about the Battlefield part, apparently realizing that the two series aren't related. The point is, though, he's working on a shooter from EA with the initials AO4.

The previous two Army of Two games put players in the shoes of a pair of mercenaries named Salem and Rios. Army of Four seems like the natural progression, because it would mean two pairs of players are working together simultaneously. I wonder if this new duo will be targeted by homophobics just like Salem and Rios are.

I can't help but feel like they're skipping over a couple other good sequel ideas by going straight to Army of Four, though. They could've made Army of Three, a love triangle between Salem, Rios, and Zooey Deschanel. They could've also made Army of Two and a Half, in which Salem and Rios team up with a precocious ten year old. I suppose Army of Four works, though, if you intend to make a good game.

Anyway, this rumor is obviously based on some pretty flimsy evidence. It's just a guess based on an acronym. We'll see if EA makes an announcement about this game in the coming months.
