Resident Evil 6 Campaign Trailer Features Rambo Commando Action

published: 2012-09-06 21:23:10
All right, let's face it: Resident Evil 6 is all about the action. It's not really a creepy horror-survival game anymore. You'll spend a lot of time shooting at zombies with high-powered weapons that have plenty of ammunition and you'll even face off against terrorist zombies who wield firearms. It may not be classic Resident Evil anymore but you have to admit that some parts look pretty fun.

The entirety of the trailer is from the perspective of Piers, the military compatriot of Chris Redfield. Piers will accompany Chris throughout his campaign and just like in Resident Evil 5, players will be able to choose whether they're in control of Chris or Piers. You get to see the non-roided up military member take down some zombies, fight off some bosses and scope out adds of scantily clad Japanese women in the video below, courtesy of Gametrailers.

As mentioned, this video was all about the robust run-and-gun, beat-and-smash gameplay and it did it well. I'm sure a lot of gamers will have tons of fun but hands-down if anyone was watching this video and you didn't tell them that it was Resident Evil I doubt they ever would have guessed that's what it was.

On the up-and-up, horror-survival fans may have to move on from Resident Evil as the go-to experience for horror and thrills of a serious nature due to its embrace of the Call of Duty-style action, but that doesn't mean the genre is devoid of worthwhile titles for gamers to experience. Methodical, well-paced horror-survival games are still around such as Routine and Montas, two games that have the potential to completely redefine the genre and are worth a look if you're the kind of gamer who isn't entirely digging the Rambo Commando direction of Resident Evil 6.

You can look for Resident Evil 6 to launch on October 2nd for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Despite leaks earlier this week in certain European countries, Capcom will maintain the release date for the game at the beginning of next month. If you want to get some hands-on time with the game a new demo is planned for September 18th. For more information feel free to visit the Official Website.
