Anne Hathaway And Bradley Cooper In Talks For New David O. Russell Movie
Since The Fighter premiered at AFI Fest last month, there has been quite a bit of buzz surrounding David O. Russell. Already attached to Drake's Fortune for a month up to that point, the natural assumption would be that it would be the director's next film. But we all know what happens when we assume...
Showbiz 411 is reporting that not only has Russell begun setting up an adaptation of the Matthew Quick novel The Silver Linings Playbook, but that he's already lined up Anne Hathaway and Bradley Cooper to star. In the book, a former high school teacher is released from a mental hospital and moves back in with his mother. Finally back in the real world, he tries to reconnect with his ex-wife, but instead becomes involved with a neighbor who also has a history of mental health problems.
The article makes no mention of Drake's Fortune, so Russell's immediate timeline is anybody's guess. Comparing the two, The Silver Linings Playbook will obviously function on a much smaller budget, meaning that it's possible for Russell to make it while everything is being sorted out with Drake's. If that is indeed his plan, it's a very Steven Soderbergh-esque move for a director who has only made five movies since 1994.
