Darren Aronofsky is currently finishing up work on his otherworldly ballet drama Black Swan but he’s already prepping his next project. No it won’t be Robocop or any of the other myriad movies he’s been rumored for over the years but never done. Variety says he’s doing The Tiger with Brad Pitt.

The film is being described as an adventure thriller based on a nonfiction book by John Vaillant called The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival. The book chronicles the hunt for a man-eating tiger across the forbidding landscape of Siberia. The hero of the book is a game warden and conservationist who must face down the tiger, and Brad Pitt will likely star as that character.

Guillermo Arriaga, best known for two of the most wildly overrated indie movies of the past decade in Babel and 21 Grams has been hired to adapt The Tiger’s script. I feel confident in saying that there’s no way this will be better than The Ghost and the Darkness, a film which covered much the same story but set it in Africa and with Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas hunting the man-eating feline. Do yourself a favor and Netflix it.
