The number of projects Guillermo Del Toro is supposed to be directing has grown to a rather impossible number. Ever since Hellboy mildly flopped at the box office Guillermo has been talking about doing another. A few weeks ago we heard that he’s doing a fantasy-thriller called Killing on Carnival Row, and he’s just finishing up production on his next movie, Pan’s Labyrinth. And oh yeah, there’s those Halo rumors too.

Well, even though New Line says Guillermo is working on Killing on Carnival Row next, Ron Perlman, star of Hellboy, insists he’s doing Hellboy 2 soon. He told Sci-Fi Wire that the film now has a working title, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army and that production begins this year.

Discussing the plot of the as of yet non-existent movie, Perlman says: “It's a compendium of a lot of elements that they were not able to address in the first one.” Pretty vague. But he clarifies by getting vaguer: “Now they can kind of branch out a little bit and get funky with it and hit some of the other colors that existed in some of the other comic books."

So to sum up, Perlman says Guillermo Del Toro is about to start work on Hellboy 2 even though Del Toro is busy making other movies and even though the first one wasn’t exactly a financial success. In the second film Hellboy will get “funky”, which could mean he’ll be wearing shoes with live goldfish in the heels.
