Josh Hartnett, Sam Rockwell, and 40 Year-Old Virgin’s Kate Dennings have been cast in the movie adaptation of a bizarre sounding book called End Zone. Amazon describes it as Dr. Strangelove meets North Dallas Forty. Wait, it gets weirder.

The movie mixes football with terrorism and nuclear endgame strategy. In it, Hartnett plays a talented running back who keeps screwing up. Dennings plays his love interest (isn’t the age difference a little creepy there?) and Rockwell plays the school’s publicist. That’s right, the school has a publicist. They also have a teacher of international terrorism and mass destruction who sees Hartnett’s character as the perfect solider/student. That last part has yet to be cast. Is Christopher Lloyd still lucid? Can he resurrect the Reverend Jim?

George Ratliff is directing and speaking to Variety he calls the novel “wonderfully subversive.” Maybe this will be the new V for Vendetta, but with more humorous overtones? I think I need to read “End Zone”, it sounds like my kind of crazy.
