Martin Scorsese's Hugo Poster Has Time On Its Side
Two masters of the field, Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese, have films on the docket for the end of this year that use technological advances in either motion-capture or 3D to bring audiences deep into what appear to be rollickingly imaginative adventures. Scorsese’s Hugo, which screened in rough-cut state at the New York Film Festival, arrives in theaters ahead of Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin, and continues to tease with marketing materials. Here’s a new poster, courtesy of MovieFone.
![]() Love the whimsical design, which harkens back to color palettes and schemes used for The Polar Express, Time Bandits and the Narnia films. Of course, it’s Scorsese’s 3D images that really are going to help sell Hugo. Our own Katey Rich called them “probably the most gorgeous live-action 3D film ever made.” Statements do not come more bold than that, and we’re all dying to see for ourselves what Scorsese was able to accomplish in Hugo. The film opens on Nov. 23. It stars Asa Butterfield as an orphan living in a Parisian train station and focuses on the adventures on which he embarks. Katey also calls it a love letter to cinema. Knowing Scorsese, we’d expect nothing less. |
