It looks like Michael Douglas is looking to set himself up for a wild time in Sin City. According to Variety, the two-time Academy Award winning actor is now in talks for the lead role in Lost Vegas, a new comedy that is being produced by CBS Films and Mandate Pictures.

Originally written by Crazy, Stupid, Love scribe Dan Fogelman – rewrites have since been done by Adam Brooks and Alan Yang – the story follows an aging man (potentially Douglas) who is getting ready to marry a woman that is half his age. But before he ties the knot, he decides to invite three of his best friends from childhood to go to Las Vegas with him for a bachelor party weekend. While things start off fun, the tension grows as the protagonist begins to fight with one of his friends over a woman that they both loved when they were kids.

Jon Turteltaub is currently attached to direct the project, which could potentially be his first movie without Nicholas Cage in eight years. The filmmaker’s most recent titles include both National Treasure titles as well as 2010’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Production on Last Vegas is scheduled to start up in September. The filming phase will take place once Michael Douglas has completed work on Behind the Candelabra, the Liberace biopic that is being directed by Steven Soderbergh and is being made for HBO. The actor was most recently seen alongside Gina Carano, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas and Michael Fassbender in Sodebergh’s Haywire.
