I’m really bored with Superman casting news, so bored in fact that I don’t think we even bothered to report the Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor thing that was floating around about a week ago. But it’s Saturday night in the middle of a holiday weekend and there’s not much other news floating around, so I thought I’d throw out a Perry White casting rumor that popped up over with our friends at Film Rot.

They’re pointing an arrow at Steve Martin for the role of Perry White, via an article they found in Wizard Magazine, a publication I can’t imagine ever being bored enough to pick up. Wizard claims he’s pretty close to landing it, and that Steve is interested in grabbing it to give his career a boost after starring in garbage like Bringin Down the House. But that seems pretty shifty to me, since even though he’s been doing bad movies, they’ve also all been wildly successful movies. In Hollywood terms that translates into his career being pretty hot, no matter how miserable his work may have been.

Besides, Steve Martin couldn’t possibly be more wrong for the role. He’s too low key. Maybe Singer just wants him because his hair is white… and the character’s name is White! Ha! Ho. Yeah.
