One of the fun things about the internet, aside from instant access to ten billion cat videos, is getting to see all the foreign versions of trailers. Sometimes they include new footage, sometimes they sell the movie in a totally different way, and sometimes it's just hilarious to watch different voices coming out of well-known celebrities' mouths. Take, for instance, the Russian trailer for Joss Whedon's The Avengers. It offers two of the three above perks, not to mention that everything seems more badass in Russian. Here's the trailer, courtesy of MSN Russia.

There are a few things worth noticing in this one. It starts out pretty much identical to the American version, but soon veers off into some new footage. There's some interaction between Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) that's new...it looks like they're speaking to each other, anyway, but since I don't speak Russian it could just be a confusing edit. We also see a conversation between Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and in general just see more of the two of them than we do in the original version. That's not surprising, since a) Scarlett Johansson's hotness overrides barriers of nationality and language and b) the character of Black Widow is Russian in the comics. Plus, as a longtime comics fanboy, it did bring a little rush of glee to see Black Widow actually speaking Russian.

The Avengers opens -- in the States, at least -- on May 4th, 2012. Russia actually gets it a day earlier. Curse those Ruskie bastards!
