Moviehole columnist Adam Frazier and I continue to weigh in on the South By Southwest film festival, jumping on camera whenever time allows to record quick video reactions to the various films programmed at this amazing Austin event. To check out the first one, about Cabin in the Woods and The Imposter, go Here

The rains finally let up, allowing us to shoot some video outside. And while we’re only at the halfway point of the festival, Adam and I decided to pick our fest favorites so far. Frazier went with The Raid, Gareth Evans’ intense, bone-crunching Indonesian action flick that has been picking up serious momentum on the festival circuit. I went with Safety Not Guaranteed, Colin Trevorrow’s warm, open-hearted and frequently funny time-travel comedy that features noteworthy performances by Mark Duplass, Aubrey Plaza and breakout star Jake Johnson (of FOX’s New Girl). We try to explain why these films work so well for us in the below clip.

We’re going to do our best to record a few more video blogs before leaving Austin, with one dedicated to the movies that were marginally disappointing (thankfully they were few and far between). And I definitely want to talk about Fat Kid Rules the World, which gets better the more I think about it. Thanks for checking out our SXSW coverage, and stay tuned for more!
