Star Trek Sequel Gets A Wife For Noel Clarke![]()
This week has been filled with fascinating casting developments for J.J. Abrams' sequel to Star Trek. On Wednesday it was revealed that both Doctor Who's Noel Clarke and Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch have joined the cast of the untitled film, and with those pieces of news came snippets of character information. Cumberbatch will reportedly play the villain in the movie, but Clarke's character is still a bit of a mystery, as he has only been described as a " family man with a wife and a young daughter." Obviously it's not enough information to immediately identify the character that he'll play, but now, according to EW, he does have a spouse.
The site has learned from inside sources that Nazneen Contractor, who is best known for playing Kayla Hassan in the eighth season of 24, has been cast in the Star Trek sequel and will play the wife of Noel Clarke's character. In addition to the two aforementioned Brits, Contractor will join Peter Weller and Alice Eve as a newcomer to the franchise, which promises to bring back the cast of the 2009 blockbuster hit. The script was written by Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and the film will hit theaters on May 17, 2013. While this bit of casting news does add a new piece to the puzzle that is Star Trek 2, we're still totally in the dark about what's going to happen. The Cumberbatch casting suggests that Khan will not be the main villain of the film, but everything really is still a mystery. Knowing how J.J. Abrams likes to make movies, it will probably stay that way for a long, long time. |
