The cast of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln is easily one of the greatest I've ever seen, but looking through the names you might start to notice a pattern. Here, let's see if you can guess it:
Daniel Day Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, David Strathairn, Joseph Cross, Walton Goggins, Lee Pace, David Costabile and Jackie Earle Haley

Figure it out yet? The word you're looking for is "diversity." Ignoring for a moment that there's only one actress in the list up there, it's fairly surprising that there would be so little African-American representation in the top-tier cast for a movie that centers on the president that abolished slavery. Fortunately, it's a problem that, according to Deadline, has been improved, and the movie has added yet another great name to put on the poster.

David Oyelowo, who was seen this past summer in both Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Help - two of the seasons biggest hits - has been added to the cast of Lincoln. In the film, which is currently filming in Virginia, Oyelowo will be playing "a cavalryman." The project is another notch in the belt for the actor who already has a heavy upcoming slate. Also currently in production on Christopher McQuarrie's One Shot, which also stars Tom Cruise, Oyelowo has parts in 2012 releases such as Middle of Nowhere, Red Tails and Lee Daniels' The Paperboy.

Considering his character doesn't even have a name and that Oyelowo is also working on another movie at the exact same time, I can't imagine that it's a very big part, but we can cross our fingers that it's a significant one.
