It’s hard to imagine Marxist theorist Leon Trotsky being the focus of a comedy, but it’s easier to picture when you find out it’s Jay Baruchel of Knocked Up and Tropic Thunder in the lead role. Baruchel plays Leon Bronstein, a 17-year-old high school student with an affinity for Trotsky. In fact, Leon believes he’s the reincarnation of the Russian revolutionary and plans to recreate the monumental points of his life, even his assassination.
The Trotsky received good buzz at the Toronto International Film Festival but has yet to nab a distributor. Hopefully the film will picked it up soon because writer/director Jacob Tierney looks like he’s sitting on something that could be pretty funny. Check out the trailer below.
