Last night at the MTV Movie Awards Michael Bay promised shooting on Transformers 2 would begin Monday, and he was as good as his word. We’ve got photographic evidence.
Tonight we got photos from a scooper, straight from the set of Transformers 2. They’re filming in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania at the Bethlehem Steel Plant, and apparently they’ve convinced the military to loan them a few attack helicopters. It’s hard to tell what they’re really up to from these pictures, but whatever it is, it looks expensive. Actually, the steel plant bears some resemblance to the factory where Shia LaBeouf was first chased by Barricade.
Check out what Michael Bay and Optimus Prime were up to on their first day of shooting Transformers 2, by checking out all of our set photos in the gallery below:

I think it would be awesome if the steel plant were a stnad-in for an under-construction Autobot city. They made the first movie so contemporary now its time to reflect that the Transformer War brought Earth into a new age of technology.
I think it would be great to have at least a few scenes where Spike and Bumblebee are in the city sourrounded by Autobot driving around, changing going about thier business.
I just got back from day 2 of shooting - I live in Allentown, right near where this steel plant is located. The steel plant is being used as the opening sequence as a Japanese city - there were neon green and red lights of Japanese letters all over what we could see on the perimeter of the set. It started raining about an hour ago so I'm not sure how that will effect the shoot.
