The Hobbit director Peter Jackson, along with co-stars Richard Armitage and Evangeline Lilly, will participate in a live chat via Google Hangout today (Wednesday), Dec. 4, at 10:15 a.m. PST / 1:15 p.m. EST. That’s very soon! You can follow along on YouTube, or just keep an eye on the player below. The footage should go live shortly.

Jackson and his cast are helping build anticipation for The Desolation of Smaug, the second chapter in his massive Hobbit trilogy, which will be in theaters on Dec. 13. Fans can sign up for the Google+ Hangout on this page. It’s there that you can submit questions for Jackson, hopefully letting him answer one or two before the roughly hour-long session concludes.

Ahead of the Hangout, Geek.com reported that Jackson has an exclusive scene from Smaug to share. In addition, Team Hobbit walked the red carpet at the film’s premiere Tuesday night, so the marketing and promotional duties will be in full force until the movie finally opens.

The action is expected to increase in Desolation of Smaug, as Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) continues his journey to the Lonely Mountain, where he’s due to encounter the legendary dragon of the title. It will be a bit of a Sherlock reunion, as Smaug will be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the sleuth opposite Freeman’s John Watson in the famed BBC series.

But for the moment, we’re still in Middle-earth, where Jackson is about to hold court for all Hobbit fans around the globe. As you wait, check out the latest TV spot and trailer for Desolation of Smaug. And check back on the site after the Hangout, for if Jackson does have an exclusive clip from the sequel to tease, we can only hope Warner Bros. let’s us host it on CinemaBlend shortly after.
