Rosemarie DeWitt may be more recognizable for her TV work than she is on the big screen at this point, with notable roles in Mad Men and Showtime’s United States of Tara, but she does have a number of feature projects in the works, including a role in the upcoming Akiva Schaffer directed comedy Neighborhood Watch. And she’s also landed the female lead a film written by and starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski, called Promised Land.

Directed by Gus Van Sant, Promised Land is described as a Capraesque tale, which follows Damon and Krasinski’s characters, both of whom are corporate executives, and also rivals. The script's first draft was written by Dave Eggers. Deadline shared the news of DeWitt’s casting, stating that she’ll play the female lead, though they don’t elaborate on the nature of the role beyond that. The site does say that Damon’s character finds his whole life being called into question after arriving at a small town.

Before going on to play Tara’s younger sister in Showtime’s United States of Tara, DeWitt played the role of Don Draper’s artist mistress in Mad Men (and her character returned for an episode in Season 4). She also played Rachel in Rachel Getting Married with Anne Hathaway. In addition to Promised Land and Neighborhood Watch, she’s also credited for a role in the Peter Hedges directed The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
