Ricky Gervais may have gotten some backlash for being too mean during his three hosting stints at the Golden Globes, but apparently, those negative headlines didn’t bother Tina Fey and Amy Poehler one bit. The duo came out swinging during their opening monologue, zinging not only a ton of celebrities in the room but also quite a few who weren’t even in attendance.

Here are a look at some of their best jokes…
On Ricky Gervais: “(He’s) not here tonight because he is no longer in show business.”

On Kathryn Bigelow: “When it comes to torture, I trust the woman who spent three years married to James Cameron.”

On Anne Hathaway’s performance in Les Mis: “I have not seen someone so alone and abandoned like that since (Anne was) on stage with James Franco at the Oscars.”

On Quentin Tarantino: “(He’s) the star of my sexual nightmares.”

It’s hard to know exactly how Tina and Amy are doing with viewers at home, but with those in the room, they’re absolutely crushing. They had to take long pauses after the James Cameron and James Franco jokes because people were laughing so hard.

Here’s to hoping they’re as spot on for the rest of the show. If they are, they could well go down as two of the greatest awards show hosts of all-time.
