Rebel Wilson's Comedy Pilot May Get A Second Chance At ABC

CBS' loss may be ABC's game. It's probably not all that often that a pilot gets a second chance at another network after being passed over for a series order, but from what's being reported, there's a chance Rebel Wilson's CBS pilot might have a new shot at going to series at ABC.

Deadline is reporting that ABC is close to a deal to "re-pilot the project," which is written by and stars Australian actress Rebel Wilson. Executive produced by Conan O'Brien, the original comedy pilot was titled Super Fun Night and was a multi-camera comedy about a group of three nerdy female friends looking to have a "SUPER FUN" Friday night each week. Reportedly, the pilot would be retooled to be a single camera comedy, which would certainly make it a better fit for ABC. By the show's description, the awkward title actually sounds sort of fitting.

Rebel Wilson was one of many stand-out performances in last year's comedy Bridesmaids, so it would be great to see what she can do starring in her own TV show.

ABC already has two friends-focused shows, with Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B--- in Apartment 23. Super Fun Night sounds like it could be a good fit among those comedies, which are set to air on Tuesday nights this fall. Then again, with Dancing with the Stars and Private Practice already set up for Tuesdays this fall, the line-up seems full there at the moment, so perhaps this one would be held for midseason, assuming it gets an order. That's probably thinking a bit far ahead though, as it sounds like the deal for the re-pilot is still in the works.
